On the Road Again! 

Every year around this time, people from all walks of life begin the annual planning of vacation days. Whether we are posting our vacation requests on the corkboard in the break room or emailing our HR rep our 2017 off-time calendars, we’re already all looking forward to our next break from reality.

Fortunately for Harley owners, peace of mind and the thrill of adventure is always just a short (or long) ride away. We don’t need a week on a cruise ship or a 12 hour trans-continental plane flight to get right. Any weekend is game to become an adventure when you’ve got your trusty steel stallion to ride. Give us a couple days and some open roads and we’re on our way to true happiness and back before we start our Monday commute each week.

If you like the freedom of being a weekend road warrior, you should make sure you have what you need with you, or risk your weekend ride becoming a weekend spent on the side of the road or back at the repair shop. Keep some common sense items handy. A convenient little roadside emergency kit will include:

 

  • Tools

  • Flashlight

  • First Aid Kit

  • Goodie Bag (spare fuses, nuts/bolts, bulbs, clamps, etc.)

  • Cell Phone Charger/Spare Battery

 

If you are planning on going through any hills or mountains during your travels, make sure you’ve got your cold weather and rain gear with you as well. Nothing like a sudden drop in temperature and a sudden increase in your odds for frostbite to quickly ruin a great weekend and change your disposition from sunny to frosty in no time flat.
