What Can You Expect From Harley's S Models?
Harley-Davidson’s new lineup of limited-edition cruisers features big power and cutting-edge style. The sporty 2016 S Series models are all about maximum performance and custom motorcycle looks, so don’t be surprised if your new bike attracts attention both on and off the road. (1)
With that in mind, the Softail Slim S and Fat Boy S benefit from a Screamin’ Eagle Air-Cooled Twin Cam 110B unit that delivers 109 (3) and 108 pound-feet of torque, respectively. (4) That power is accessible at between 3,500 rpm (3) and 4,000 rpm, depending on the model. (4)
The Softail Slim S also gets a new four-piston fixed caliper with 32 and 34 mm pistons, and a larger 300 mm rotor for enhanced stopping power. (3) The Fat Boy S features new rubber—a fatter wheel up front and a beefy rear tire—that helps deliver a smoother ride and better traction when braking. (4)
In terms of style, the Softail is offered in an Olive Gold Denim paint color that combines military theme with old-school iron attitude. (3) As for the Fat Boy S, the motorcycle gets an all-black color scheme for a truly appreciable dark and rebellious look. (4)
Motorcycle USA describes it as the most powerful non-CVO Dyna cruiser to be offered by Harley, thanks in part to a potent Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110 engine and features like a Heavy Breather intake and Fat Bob-style 2-into-2 exhaust. (5) The result: 115 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm delivered via a six-speed Cruise Drive transmission. The bike's sporty performance is further enhanced with an upgraded suspension and brakes. (6)
Electronic throttle control and cruise control is standard (so, no more cables around the handlebars), and a new seat adds comfort and support for day-long rides. (7)
In terms of appearances, blacked-out styling combined with new magnum gold-colored cast aluminum wheels helps deliver a raw and edgy look. The chopped rear fender is also a nice touch. (7)
