5 Ways to Use Harley-Davidson®'s Ride Planner

The Harley-Davidson® Ride Planner is an excellent tool to have on hand before heading out on your next big adventure. Imagine the ease of rider check-ins, easy-to-follow directions and gas station locations being displayed on your phone. But there's more to it than that — these are just some of the perks of using the mobile app. (1)

1. Creating a Ride

Before your next big road trip, you’ll want to add your ride to the Harley-Davidson® app. To do this, you can simply click on the map and add a location, such as a gas station or the hotel you intent to stop at, or your overall destination. You can add or remove locations if need be, move the order around, name them (via the ‘Name It’ button), save them, and edit your route. Anything is possible! (2)

2. Adding a Waypoint

Need guidance through certain areas and landmarks? In this case, you may want to use a Waypoint that — for example — will allow you to add a location (such as an area in Wyoming) to your California to Texas trip, which will redirect your route to include the new point-of-interest.(2)

3. Points of Interest

On the bottom of ‘My Ride Dashboard’ you’ll find the ‘Ride’ icon. Click on this and you will have access to Harley®’s Great Roads database. Furthermore, if you left click on the icon via the map and select ‘More Information,’ you can view photos, sample itineraries and local landmarks. Just remember: H-D®’s information is highlighted on your map, whereas the blue pins are the routes submitted by other rides. (3)

If you wish to share your journey, you can do so via email, Twitter or Facebook when you click on the ‘Share’ button in the top right corner. (4)

4. GPS Synchronization

Your focus should be on your adventure, and syncing your route/locations with your GPS device in advance will allow you to enjoy the freedom of the open road and the breathtaking scenery along the way. To do this, simply select ‘GPS Sync’ in the upper right corner and follow the directions. Note: You’ll also need to update the software of your infotainment system. (4)

5. Other Useful Features

Other features to enjoy from the H-D® Ride Planner include turn-by-turn directions, and the ability to find Harley® dealerships, gas stations, hotels and motorcycle events. You can also check in at restaurants and other attractions! (1)
