MDA and Florida's Ride for Life

Harley-Davidson® is known for supporting charitable organizations year after year, and 2015 is no different. The bike maker is already preparing for the Ride for Life spring event that will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), the world’s leading nonprofit health agency. (1)

A Good Cause

It was more than three decades ago when H-D®, approached the MDA with a suggestion. It was a fundraising program that was named “Bikers Fight MD,” and it would later lead to many wonderful contributions from the American motorcycle maker, starting with its first donation of $185,000 at the MDA Labor Day Telethon. (2)

By now, Harley-Davidson® and its dealers, customers, employees, suppliers and the Harley® Owners Group (H.O.G.®) have helped raise more than $84.2 million toward the cause. The donations help to support MDA’s worldwide research programs and comprehensive medical care for both children and adults affected by muscle disease. (2)

Ride for Life Florida

If you’re looking to make a difference for individuals, including children and their families dealing with any of the 43 different muscle diseases, then Ride for Life Florida is the event to attend. The money raised will be used to help locals living in Sunshine State that are affected by muscle disease and are covered under the MDA’s program. (1)

The event, which is presented by the Florida Harley-Davidson® Dealer’s Association, will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2 (3) at Six Bends Harley-Davidson®, which is located at I-75 & Daniels Road in Fort Myers, Florida. If you are interested in attending Ride for Life Florida, you can register at mdarides.org. (1)

Grand Prize

In addition to the ride, the top fundraiser will have the opportunity to win a grand prize: a brand-new 2015 Harley-Davidson® Street Glide Special. Each $200 contribution provides you with one chance to win H-D®’s all-new Touring model, (3) which offers great highway comfort, modern technology and lots of attitude. (4)

The bike features a standard hydraulic-adjustable suspension for light or heavy payloads, Brembo brakes, and a 6.5-inch color touchscreen and is powered by an air-cooled, high-output twin cam 103 engine that delivers a total 104.7 pound-feet of torque. (4)

Joining Florida’s Ride for Life is a great way to give back to your community. (1) For more information, contact Adamec Harley-Davidson® of Baymeadows, Orange Park, Regency and St. Augustine. (5)
