Understanding Harley-Davidson's Plant a Billion Trees Program
With the help of The Nature Conservancy, Harley-Davidson® has launched its Renew the Ride initiative, a program that seeks to raise funds to plant 50 million trees worldwide by 2025. (1)
Harley-Davidson® is pleased to share the news of Harley’s® partnership with The Nature Conservancy, (1) a non-profit organization with the mission of conserving lands and waters (2) in the most critical areas in the world and protect them from large-scale threats. (3)
Joining forces with The Nature Conservancy falls well in line with Harley-Davidson’s® goal of preserving the open road for future generations of riders. After all, experiencing the great outdoors is a central part of motorcycling. (3)
The Program
H-D® describes the great outdoors as more than just a place to live, but also as a place where we ride free. The Renew the Ride program is a reflection of the commitment H-D® and its community has towards preserving the freedom to ride. (4)
In creating the initiative to support The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees campaign, H-D® has rallied their global community of riders, (3) including owners and dealers, to help raise the necessary funds to attain the goal of planting 50 million trees worldwide by 2025. (1)
Accomplishments
With the program launched, Harley-Davidson® motorcycle dealers in Jacksonville are pleased to announce that as a result of donations and organizational efforts, the Harley-Davidson® Foundation has committed to contribute a series of annual grants totaling an impressive $550,000. The effort is truly inspiring and showcases an exceptional community willing to work together (3) to make a significant contribution to the world. (4)
Over the next few months, the motorcycle manufacturer will support the planting of 110,000 trees (or 200 acres) in the Atlantic Forest (4) and has already planted 1,000 longleaf pine trees in South Quay, Virginia, thanks to its base of riders and dealers and The Nature Conservancy. (1)
