Blog: Hints that Harley-Davidson LiveWire Will be Released in 2020

If you’ve seen the new “Avengers: Age of Ultron” movie, then you likely spotted Scarlett Johansson riding Harley-Davidson’s all-new electric motorcycle, Project LiveWire.(1) Of course, she may be the only person that can really enjoy the bike — for now anyway — as we’re expecting H-D®’s battery-powered model to reach the market by 2020.(2)

Coming Soon-ish

According to Motor Bike Times, Harley®’s long-awaited LiveWire could be available for purchase in approximately two years. That may seem long for some, but if you’re a real H-D fan — and if you’ve had the opportunity to actually test the vehicle — then you’ll be about as excited as a kid unwrapping presents on Christmas morning.(2)

Harley® CEO Matt Levatich, says the all-new electric model will “not reach the market for at least another two years,” but that it will not be released "past 2020 either.” Perhaps the company intends to improve some of the prototype’s features, such as the range between battery charges. After all, with technology moving forward at the speed of light, Harley® surely wants its bike to be everything we dreamed it should be in terms of quality and performance.(2)

Project LiveWire

Earlier this year, the battery-powered bike made its rounds in the U.S. and visited our northern neighbours in Canada, where we spotted it during the 2015 Montreal Motorcycle Show. We tested the model on a Jumpstart demonstration platform, and in a previous blog posted on Adamec Harley-Davidson®, noted that throttle response was downright impressive for a vehicle of its kind.(3) The brand’s new electric LiveWire draws its power from a three-phase AC electric induction motor, which allows the rider to benefit from a total output of 74 horsepower (55kW) and 52 pound-feet of torque (70.5 Nm). What’s more, the motorcycle has a top speed of 92 miles per hour, and butterflies will flutter in your stomach as it accelerates from zero to 60 in under four seconds.(3) As for style, the eye-catching futuristic design is slightly Tron-like — as is the sound.(3)

Conclusion

Not everyone was able to test Project LiveWire, so it’s a good thing that you can see it in the new “Avengers” movie, with the lovely Scarlett Johansson — who plays the role of Black Widow — at the helm.(1)

And don’t forget to stay tuned for more updates via Adamec Harley-Davidson® of Baymeadows, Orange Park, Regency and St. Augustine.(1)
